As a Bay Area native (and a San Jose gal), I’m constantly surprised by the hidden gems this city has to offer—especially when it comes to wedding reception venues in San Jose. If you’re looking for a low-key, fun, yet trendy spot for your wedding reception, let me introduce you to Ancora Vino by Enoteca La Storia in San Jose’s charming Little Italy!
This cozy wine bar is perfect for intimate receptions with 50–80 guests. It’s trendy, unique, and has that perfect blend of dark, modern wine bar vibes (urban dictionary really needs to come up with a word that describes just this). I recently had the honor of capturing a wedding reception here, and let me tell you—it was a flash photography dream!
The couple wanted candid guest photos mixed with formal family portraits. But as soon as I saw the stunning wine collection backdrop and the charming Little Italy streets just outside, I couldn’t resist snagging the couple for a quick creative session. In just 10 minutes, we captured fun flash photography outside, playful shots of them strolling through the streets, and moody, romantic photos right in front of the wine display.
(Side note: I may or may not have thought to myself, “Yes! I’ve finally nailed that TikTok-trendy direct flash aesthetic!” Did I digress?)
Now, let’s talk about the layout of the venue —because Ancora Vino absolutely delivers. Guests mingled over a fantastic wine selection in the wine bar area and delicious appetizers served by their caterers. When it was time for dinner, the intimate dining area —outside with its cozy heaters and dim lighting—set the perfect mood.
The evening was filled with heartfelt toasts, endless laughs, and such a sweet, memorable atmosphere. Bonus? The waitstaff here are incredible—polite, attentive, and genuinely fun. They made sure everyone, including me, a photographer, was well taken care of.
