Maternity Photoshoot collaboration with Juniper Spring Photography and Hazel Skye

Maternity photoshoot

The world of photography is a vibrant and supportive community where creative minds come together to capture the beauty of life through their lenses. As a photographer, I have found solace in this community, connecting with like-minded individuals who share my passion for visual storytelling. Recently, I had the privilege of collaborating with two talented and inspiring women, Liza from Juniper Spring Photography and Hazel from Hazel Skye. What made this collaboration truly special was our shared experiences as mothers and business owners. In this blog post, I want to take you behind the scenes where Liza from Juniper Spring Photography, is our mother-to-be model and our remarkable maternity photoshoot and share the magic that unfolded.

Juggling Motherhood and Business: As mothers running our own businesses, finding time for ourselves can often be a challenge. However, we were determined to make this shoot happen, fueled by our superpowers as moms and our creative talents. Despite the busyness of our lives, we managed to bring our visions to life with a combination of resourcefulness and determination.

Creating the Perfect Setting:

In this collaborative maternity photoshoot with Liza from Juniper Spring Photography and Hazel from Hazel Skye, we seamlessly merged our unique styles and preferences to create a perfect scene. Despite our contrasting tastes, we found harmony by selecting two distinct outfits—a neutral white gown and a regal royal blue dress—to capture different facets of our Liza's beauty. Choosing a natural backdrop allowed our focus to remain on Liza, while hand-picked vibrant flowers from Trader Joe's added a playful and personalized touch. Hazel's skillful makeup artistry added a touch of glamour, accentuating the natural beauty of Liza. Through collaboration and a DIY spirit, we achieved a visually stunning backdrop that beautifully showcased the essence of motherhood. This experience reinforced the transformative power of working together, bringing different creative visions to life in a remarkable way.

Embracing Vintage Charm: Post-edit time, I decided to explore my love for vintage aesthetics. Inspired by the timeless allure of bygone eras, I sought to infuse the photos with a hint of nostalgia. I was a little worried when it came to the blue gown, however as a problem solver I decided this was the right time to be creative when it came to editing. I experimented with a soft focus effect reminiscent of the 1920s. This technique, popularized in the 60s and 70s, provided a captivating vintage charm that elevated the overall aesthetic of the images.

The Final Results: As I immersed myself in the editing process, my initial reservations about incorporating a vintage touch dissipated. The imperfect yet staged look I achieved perfectly captured the essence of the shoot. The soft focus effect added a unique dimension to the photos, evoking a sense of timelessness and sentimentality. I couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment as I saw the final images come together flawlessly, reflecting the beauty of motherhood and the connection between a mother and her unborn child.
